An early Shakhrisyabz Suzani showing a four-and-one composition of five large, circular poppy blossoms complemented by four smaller poppy blossoms, twigs, vines and panicles. Several small birds are scattered across the field. Circular blossoms and diagonal floral crosses, all differentiated by variations in their details, alternate in the wide main border. The appeal of this splendid silk embroidery, possibly made as early as the 18th century, is in the variation of designs and the first-rate colours. – Backed with fabric, only slight signs of wear, the embroidery is a little worn in places. In good overall condition.
