Early Period (Before 19th Century and Early 19th)     Bukhara region     Silk     169 x 217 cm

An extremely elegant Bokhara silk embroidery. The field is covered in a delicately drawn diamond lattice of thin twigs and green leaves, with red blossoms in the compartments. In the border, circular blossoms framed by pairs of sickle leaves alternate with smaller blossoms arranged in cruciform clusters. The style of this Suzani is reminiscent of Indian embroideries. – Slight signs of age and wear, small tears and stains, somewhat damaged corners. Backed with an old, heavily patinated white fabric.
