This silk embroidery on a four-panel cotton foundation is probably from the Emirate of Bokhara. Such items are known as nim Suzani on account of their small format. The field displays a dense design of green twigs, arranged into four-pointed cross shapes and octagonal compartments, and a large number of red flowers. There is a striking difference in intensity between the green colours used for the leaves and twigs in the left and right halves of the field design. – Slight signs of age, good overall condition. Backed with a printed cotton fabric and edged with a silk ikat band.
