Composed of six panels, this large Suzani was made in Pskent, a town in north eastern Uzkebistan that once belonged to the Emirate of Kokand. The ground has been completely covered in embroidery. Characteristic of the provenance, the circular motifs are known as paliak (moon) and the design as a whole, as oi paliak (moon sky). It consists of purple-red circular blossoms of varying size and interior drawing outlined in wide yellow contours. The central blossom constitutes the pivotal point of the composition. – The sides have been edged in a red fabric at a later stage; no fabric backing. Good condition.
